The search result cannot be transfered to Twitter in my environment. Is there any trouble at this moment? I have tried with Firefox, Chorome and IE7. But the same trouble remained. I am happy if you inform me of something. Thanks & best regards. abesac

  • songly · 7 months ago

  • songly · 6 months ago

How long does a song stay active on song.ly?
I posted a song last night and today it say's song not found. I've checked the song and it's still in the same location (posted on skydrive.live.com)

    derek
  • songly · 7 months ago
There's currently no time limit on Song.ly - most probably it's skydrive limit. Could you please provide us with the Song.ly link you're talking about?
  • Derek Irving · 7 months ago
Hmm - I did not think of skydrive, but here is the link http://song.ly/2wv1 and here is the skydrive public link

    Sorry for the delay.

I pasted http://cid-86e8cd5b6c95b5e4.skydrive.live.com/s... to my browser address bar and it said 'Bad request'. Does the same work for you when you're logged out of skydrive?'

Are there any plans to create RSS feed links for radio stations? I would love to use an RSS feed or the API to pull a list of songs for a radio station.
  • songly · 6 months ago
Sorry for the delay in the response.

There's currently no way to do that, but that's a great idea and we'll research that!
  • B · 6 months ago
Searches are coming up as 'not found'
  • songly · 6 months ago
Sorry for the delay in our response!
Yes, Seeqpod we used to use for searching music went down. We swithced to Tagoo a couple of days ago, it should work now!
  • GeoffLappTrio · 6 months ago
Hi..it sounds like a great idea to have an RSS feed links for radio stations.

    Cheers

Where did the edit button go?
  • Raygan Kelly · 5 months ago
There is no easy way to post a song.ly link from the iPhone. Using the standard website doesn't really work, it passes you through to the mobile Twitter page without filling in the tweet. How about an iPhone version of the web page, or even an iPhone app? I'd like to be able to search for songs, preview them, and pass tweets on to Tweetie for posting.

How do i get the song.ly player in a friendfeed post?
  • songly · 5 months ago
Sorry for the delay. Do you mean Song.ly link or Song.ly flash player?
  • eunderlinej · 5 months ago
I mean Song.ly flash player, that embeded mini player!
  • songly · 5 months ago
It seems like the only way to do that is to ask Friendfeed for this feature to impement. We'll contact them about this. Thanks for the idea!
  • GeoffLappTrio · 5 months ago
be nice also to podcast them, I think

Thanks for one more cool idea! Added to the todo list. Can't promise prompt development though:)

I'm a newbie. Where does the songs in Song.ly come from? I find that I get a message "file not found" on some searches. Also, is it possible for me to post songs to Song.ly? How?
  • songly · 5 months ago
    Hi Joey,

All the songs are hosted somewhere on the web on 3rd party websites, that's why some links do not work. We use 3rd party music search engine to perform searches. To post a song to Song.ly, just post URL to its mp3 to the edit box on our home page (the mp3 file must be hosted somewhere.)
  • GeoffLappTrio · 5 months ago
Hi again..do the pages/srchives have a time limit?

I only have a one page archive now..and when I try to play the older tunes they say the files are no longer there. How many pages can be stored . I used to have 2..now I have one.

    Cheers
    and thanks

Is Song.ly still down -- every song I search comes back with no results (now for three days). Is it me?
  • songly · 4 months ago
This is strange - I've just checked and it works fine for me... Can you go to http://tagoo.ru/ from your browser and check if you have access to it? (this is our search provider)
  • Paco Armijo · 4 months ago
Sorry -- I posted again before checking site. When I follow http://tagoo.ru/ I am able to search and pull-up songs. However, when I search on Song.ly I still get zero hits (even on songs others are finding on Song.ly). Thank you for your help.
  • Paco Armijo · 4 months ago
Discovered my FireWall is what's blocking the results. What ports need to be opened for Song.ly? I'm using MacOS 10.5.7 and Intego's NetBarrier X5
  • Paco Armijo · 4 months ago
Discovered what on my FireWall (NetBarrier X5) is enabled that is preventing hits on Song.ly -- that is the "Hide information on the last Web site visited." If I turn off the aforementioned feature then Song.ly search works properly.

Why does Song.ly need information on the last Web site I visited?

How is the information on the last Web site I visited used by Song.ly?
  • songly · 4 months ago
Sorry for the delay, and good to hear you found out the reason!

Song.ly itself doesn't need this information. However, it seems like Tagoo - the 3rd party service we use for search - needs it.

hi, very cool site.... thanks..... just a small wish.... not necessary, but nice..... i add the bookmarks in my toplist on firefox and when they have an identification i just have a small sign... like twitter the "t" or on facebook the blue quad with the white f inside..... can you make something too? ... than i have more space for bookmarks......
(sorry for my english, i'll hope you understand what i mean ;-))
  • songly · 4 months ago
    Hi Steff,

Thanks for pointing this out! This is definately something we have to do!
  • Paco Armijo · 4 months ago
When I search Song.ly with Safari 4.0.1 I always get zero hits and the same is true with FireFox 3.0.11 -- am I doing something wrong?
  • songly · 4 months ago
Is this the same problem with firewall?
  • Pete · 4 months ago
Love the idea of tweeting music, thanks. However, there are 2 of us sharing this computer, and as your site doesn't allow direct login to twitter (like twitpic etc have twitter details login boxes on their page), it takes an age to have to log out, then relink the twitter accounts between users.
  • songly · 4 months ago
    Hi Pete,

Thanks for the hint! Added to the todo list!
  • Julius · 3 months ago
How come the direct http links don't show on some song.ly pages, but shows on some?
  • songly · 3 months ago
    Hi Julius,

The direct link is shown when the user provides it via submitting it on the Song.ly homepage. However, if the song is found via our intergated music search, direct links are not shown as we use a 3rd party music search provider.
  • Julius · 3 months ago
You need to have a feature where we can also provide a link to an image (an artist's photo, album cover, etc.) and the image is displayed on the same page as the Flash player, preferably resized in the HTML declaration to fit into some pre-sized box.

This is necessary so that when we post a song.ly link to Facebook, we get to choose a thumbnail that relates to the song. Currently the only choice is the song.ly logo, because that's the only image on the page.
  • songly · 3 months ago
Thanks a lot for the suggestion! We'll elaborate how to implement that.
